Situated off the west coast of Scotland, the island of Iona has the mighty Atlantic Ocean on its western shore and is separated from the Isle of Mull by the Sound of Iona.
For centuries, Iona has been a place of pilgrimage. Today’s visitors still come for the tranquil, peaceful and spiritual atmosphere of the island. In the early twentieth century, Scotland’s most cherished artists—the Scottish Colourists—made regular painting trips to the island. Their famous seascapes captured Iona’s vibrant colours.
It was the unique colour palette offered by Iona’s sands, seas and rocks that inspired us to create a bespoke tartan. With its iconic light pastels, our signature Sound of Iona Tartan is inspired by the white sands of Traigh Ban Nam Monach, the pink tones of our ancient granite rocks and the blues of our translucent sea. Iona is woven into many people’s hearts and we intend to evoke special memories through our range of products.
